Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Trails Report – 3/6/09

SNOW & WEATHER REPORT: Base depth (MEASURED IN Oquossoc): 30”. We had about 2” of snow Friday. It is still chilly here but we expect milder conditions into the weekend.

TRAIL CONDITIONS:  All trails are open. Trails are generally flat and firm with some new snow on loose granular surfaces.  Conditions are good to very good. There are some icy areas so use caution-especially in corners and in exposed wind blown areas.

Lake riding is never safe!. If you are not experienced and comfortable with riding on lakes. Don’t do it! The Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile Club has no trails on any lakes, ponds, rivers or streams.

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • There is a truck crossing posted with stop signs on ITS 84 near where the trail crosses Route 17.
  • ITS 84 is rerouted from the point where it crosses Route 16 as the trail heads out from Oquossoc toward NH and Bosebuck. Watch for signs and please heed the stop signs. Please do not ride on the plowed road.
  • ITS 84E has been rerouted just after you leave the RLSC trail system heading east toward Phillips.  Go right. The Old ITS 84 is currently closed and marked as closed. You will not see any ITS 84 signs until you get to the junction just north of Phillips. Go left there.
  • The Corridor 117 trail has some long plowed sections south of the Coos Canyon area.
  • The Arnold Clubs trails between Rangeley and the Stratton and Eustis area have some extensive sections of plowed roads.  Joint use is permitted but watch out for truck traffic and logging equipment.
